How to make a cleaning service receipt
-
Add the client and the address
Type your name or company, the client’s name and the address that was cleaned. Add the date of the visit.
-
Enter the visits and the rate
Fill in how many visits and the price per visit. The amount is worked out for you and written in words. Add extras such as an oven clean on their own lines.
-
Choose how it was paid and print
Pick cash, card, check or an app, add a reference if you like, and sign. Print it or save a PDF to send.
What a cleaning receipt should show
- Your name or business, and the client’s name
- The address that was cleaned and the date of each visit
- What was done, such as “Whole-house clean, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths”
- The amount paid, and how it was paid (cash, card, check or app)
- A receipt number and your signature, so both of you have a record
Common lines on a house cleaning receipt
The sample receipt uses made-up prices. They are not a price guide: your own prices should reflect your costs, your area and the size of the home.
- Regular visit, weekly or every two weeks (per visit)
- Deep clean or first-time clean (per job)
- Move-in or move-out clean
- Inside oven, fridge, windows or cupboards (per item)
- Supplies, if you charge for them
Tips
- Give the receipt on the day, so the client has proof of payment.
- If you only take payment after the visit, a receipt is the right paper. If the client pays later, send an invoice first.
- Keep a copy of every receipt for your own records and for tax time. Check your local rules on what to keep and for how long.
- For regular clients, list the visit dates in the notes.

Frequently asked questions
What should a cleaning service receipt include?
Your name or business, the client’s name and address, the date of the visit, what was done, the amount paid and how, and a signature.
Where can I get a cleaning service receipt template?
Make one here. It starts as a cleaning receipt, so you only fill in the visit and the amount. It is free and needs no account.
Is a house cleaning receipt the same as an invoice?
No. An invoice asks for payment, a receipt shows it was paid. If the client has not paid yet, make an invoice instead.
Can I write the amount in words?
Yes. The amount is written out in words for you and you can edit the wording on the sheet.
Can I use this for a maid or an office cleaner?
Yes. Change the lines on the sheet to match the work you did, and put the building or office address in the address box.
Is this cleaning receipt free?
Yes. It needs no account and adds no watermark. What you type stays in your browser and is never uploaded.
