Look Colours

Rounded and dots soften the squares; the three big corner squares stay solid so phones still find the code. Scan it with your phone before you print.

It changes with the kind of code until you type your own. Leave it empty for no line.

Logo in the middle (opt.)

With a logo the code switches to its strongest error correction, and the logo covers less than a fifth of its width. Kept in this browser only; not included in a share link.

A digital business card that lives in the QR code

A vCard QR code holds your contact details in the standard contact-card format (vCard). When someone scans it, the phone offers to save you as a new contact, with your name, number, email, company and website in the right fields.

Many “digital business card” apps put your details on their own website and charge a monthly fee to keep the link working. This code is different: the details are inside the code itself, so there is no page to keep paying for and nothing that expires. It is made in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded.

How to make a vCard QR code

  1. Type your details

Fill in only what you want to share: a name and one way to reach you is enough.

  2. Scan it with your phone

Your phone should offer to add a contact. Check that each detail landed in the right field.

  3. Put it to use

Add the PNG to your email signature or slides, print it on the back of business cards, or print a sign for your stand.

Where to use a contact QR code

  • On the back of a printed business card or on a name tag at an event.
  • On a stand or table at a fair or market: “Save my contact”.
  • In a slide at the end of a talk.
  • On a flyer, resume or a quote you hand to a customer.
  • On the van or in the shop window, printed big enough to scan from a distance.

Fewer details, easier scanning

Every detail you add makes the code denser. A name and a phone number scan easily even when printed very small; with a company, job title, email and website the squares get smaller, so print the code a little larger. Your street address is best kept on your website.

The Print size section under the code shows how many squares it has and the smallest size that is comfortable to scan.

When your details change

Because the details are in the code, a new phone number needs a new code. If you change jobs often, you can make a code for a link to your own page instead, and keep that page up to date.

Frequently asked questions

What is a vCard?

vCard is the standard file format phones and email programs use for contact cards. The QR code holds the same information, so the phone knows it is a contact.

Does the person need an app?

No. The camera app on iPhone and on Android phones offers to add the contact.

Does the code expire?

No. It is a static code with your details inside, so there is no subscription and no link that can stop working.

Can I add a photo or a logo?

A photo does not fit in the code itself. You can put your logo in the middle of the code with the Logo option; the code switches to its strongest error correction so it still scans.

Are my details saved on this site?

No. The code is made in your browser. What you type is saved only on your own device so the form is there next time.
